2015 1st Quarter Review

  • ~ Bling Ca-Ching Corsage Workshop

    The Bling Ca-Ching workshop was hosted by DWF Wholesale. This was a hands on workshop where we worked in small groups going from station to station. Our instructors were Marcia Jones from Woodlawn Floral who taught basic corsage and boutonnieres, Susie Carr AIFD taught bracelet corsage with bling and boutonniere, and Amy Santee who taught wire corsage, boutonniere and ring.

    It is always fun to learn new and exciting ways to make our prom season more fun and profitable! Thank you to Sherrilyn Roundy for chairing this event and to all our instructors and volunteers. We could not do this without you.

  • ~ Rocky Mountain Cup 2015

    The annual Rocky Mountain Cup was held at Amato Wholesale March 29th 2015. There were 9 contestants, who had 2.5 hours to complete 3 designs using all the same materials. One of the designs was to create a wearable corsage for Bennie the dog. The other two were their own interpretations of two famous paintings.

    One design had to incorporate an Umbrella from the painting by George Seurant “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”

    The other was to incorporate a bowler’s hat from the painting by Rene Margritte “Son of Man”.

    Thank you to Tricia Fillingim AIFD for doing a wonderful job chairing the event this year. Thank you to our judges Maggie AIFD, CPF, PFCI, Susie Carr AIFD, and Bea Blanc AIFD, and our volunteers Lisa Weddell AIFD, PFCI, Michelle Gustine CPF, and Lola.

    The awards are as follows.

    1st place went to Arthur Williams AIFD of Babylon Floral Winner Arthur Williams Babylon Floral

    2nd place went to Kaitlyn Vigil from Abloom Kaitlyn Vigil Abloom

    3rd place went to Bill Hattel from Amatos Bill Hattel Amatos

    1st place in the “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” category went to Arthur Williams of Babylon Floral. first place in RMC category

    1st place in the “Son of Man” Category went to Gloria Guerrero from Ed Moore first place in RMC category Son of Man

    1st place in the wearable dog corsage category went to Arthur Williams first place doggy corsage
